NPFL: Remo Stars mark return with a bang in Lagos

A goal by Andy Okpe in the fourth minute of added time sealed victory for Remo Stars on their return to the top flight of Nigerian club football after a three-year absence.
Through Ifeanyi Ojukwu’s assist, Qudus Akanni's had recorded the first goal of the season in the 55th minute as Gbenga Ogunbote’s squad returned to Ikenne with three points and two goals, and none conceded at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Three years ago (7th December 2018), Remo Stars had defeated MFM by a lone goal, also in Lagos.
While Gbenga Ogunbote will seek to consolidate on this victory in their next match against Heartland on Boxing Day on their home ground in Ikenne, MFM, coached by Gabriel Olalekan, will have to seek redemption on the same day away to Dakkada FC in Uyo.
The remaining fixtures of Matchday 1 will hold on Sunday.
