Uzodinma boost Imo workers with 13th month salary


Government workers in Imo State will receive 13th month salary.


According to Governor Hope Uzodimma, this is the end-of-the-year bonus to workers in the state.

A statement on Monday by his spokesman, Oguwike Nwachuku, quoted the Governor as saying that efforts were ongoing to elevate deserving civil servants, while all outstanding salaries and pensions would soon be cleared.

The statement urged civil servants to remain committed to the service of government and try not to be partisan.

”All verified 43, 000 workers without issues will never be owed salaries by this government because we do  not regard payment of salary as achievement by any governor,  the worker deserves his wage.

 “Promotion issues will be looked into as long as the workers remain committed and we want you to desist from blackmailing government.
“Your happiness is my happiness, your sadness is my sadness, your hunger is my hunger “,  the statement assured.

The Head of Service, Camilus Iwuagwu thanked the Governor for introducing the automated payroll system, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, provision of free mass transit, Civil Servants Clinic and training of workers.

Iwuagwu thanked the Governor for granting the request to revisit the genuine cases of workers and pensioners who, as a result of some problems were omitted from salaries and pensions.

The state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Philip Nwansi also commended the Governor for being worker-friendly.

Nwansi expressed confidence that all those with issues of unpaid salaries and pensions would soon have reasons to rejoice. (NAN)

NCDC calls in security agencies to enforce Covid protocol, as Omicron ravages

The  Nigeria Centre for Disease Control  (NCDC) has urged security agencies to collaborate with religious bodies in the enforcement of Covid-19 safety protocols during the festive season. The new concern follows several disturbing factors, particularly the realisation that Nigeria is now the third ranked African country in Omicron infections, after South Africa (1,296 cases) and Botswana (291). NCDC says Nigeria has recorded 45 Omicron cases as of 20th December. On Friday, NCDC announced 1,356 fresh Covid infections which moved the total figure to 234,709. On hundred and ninety-seven Covid patients recovered on Friday to bring Nigeria's total recoveries to 212,237, while two fatalities were reported to take the figure to 2,993.
