NPFL top spot: Kwara United fail to rattle Remo Stars
Adebambo Ademola rescued Kwara United from defeat in Okigwe three minutes to the end of the encounter; the point enabling the Ilorin not only to share honours with Abia Warriors but also retain fourth position on the four-week-old season.
For Abia Warriors, Godwin Obaje had not even allowed the visitors to settle down before his goal in the first minute of the tight game.
With the 1-1 outcome, the Afonja Warriors now have seven points from four matches - the same as Rangers who however have a superior goal advantage.
In Gombe, Abdulazeez Yusuf struck twice for Gombe United in the 51st and 71st minutes, in between Endurance Ebedebiri's own goal in the 57tth minute to sink Lobi Stars 3-0. It was Gombe United's first victory of the season which catapulted them from 18th to 10th on the log.
The result ended Lobi Stars' unbeaten run in the season that had seen them win one and drawn two. It also brought them from sixth to 13th.
Like Gombe United, Shooting Stars also recorded their first win of the season, thanks to Wasiu Alalade's 62nd minute goal, which proved to be the only one of the match.
The Oluyole Warriors moved five steps up from 17th to 12th on the table.
Only three teams - leaders Remo Stars, second-placed Rivers United and Nasarawa United in seventh - have not tasted defeat this season. And Sunshine Stars are the last team yet to win a match, although the Akure Gunners have a game in hand.
Matchday 5 fixtures come up on Sunday with leaders Remo Stars hosting Plateau United and a crunch game in Aba as Enyimba engage Shooting Stars. The People's Elephant have suffered back-to-back defeats.
